This coin represents the biodiversity of the northwestern region of the country.  

Design: It features a silky anole or lagartija, a typical species of dry forests, placed on top of a map segment symbolizing its habitat.

Meaning: To highlight the importance of Costa Rican ecosystems and their preservation through a six-coin collection (including butterfly, frog, turtle, among others species).
